A saved search is a standing instruction: "watch this marketplace for items like these." Worth Radar runs it automatically on a schedule, brings in new matches, and scores them — so opportunities find you.
Creating one
From Searches → New Search, set:
- Source — the marketplace to watch. Local sources (KSL, Craigslist, OfferUp) match by zip + radius; online/nationwide sources (eBay, Mercari, Poshmark, Depop) match on keyword and price. Poshmark and Depop are apparel/fashion-first — great for a want ("find me this jacket under $40") but usable for resale opportunities too.
- Keyword — what to look for. Leave it blank to browse a whole category or area.
- Exclude words — skip matches whose title or description contains any of these (see below).
- Price range — minimum and maximum asking price.
- Max price per unit — for weights and bulk lots, cap the price per pound or per item (e.g. "$1 per lb" to find free weights, "$20 per item" for a lot of chairs). See below — it works a little differently from the other filters.
- Location — a zip and a radius in miles, for local sources (KSL/Craigslist/OfferUp); matches are kept to that radius. Online sources (Mercari, eBay) ship nationwide, so they have no location field.
- Free only — restrict to free listings. Only for local sources with a free category; online sources price everything for sale, so it's hidden for them.
- Type — Opportunity (resale, the default) or Want (something you want to buy — see Wants).
Cutting out the noise with exclude words
A broad keyword catches a lot you don't want — "broken," "for parts," "case only," a different brand. Add those to Exclude words and any listing whose title or description contains one is skipped before it ever reaches your dashboard or an alert. Separate terms with commas or spaces (e.g. broken, parts, case only); matching is case-insensitive. Leave it blank to exclude nothing.
Worth Radar also drops obvious junk automatically — link-spam titles, phone-number-only posts, placeholder/test listings — so it never reaches your dashboard or an alert. This is conservative by design: a real listing is never dropped just for being low quality (analysis handles that), only clear junk.
Searching by price per pound or per item
A lot of deals are really about the price per unit, not the sticker price — "free weights under $1 a pound," or "a lot of 20 chairs for under $20 each." Set Max price per unit and pick lb or item, and matches over that price per unit are held back from your dashboard and alerts.
One thing to know: this works a little differently from the price filter. Worth Radar figures out the quantity (the total weight or count) while it analyzes each listing, so the per-unit filter is applied after analysis rather than at search time. And it's deliberately forgiving — if a listing doesn't state a weight or count that we can read, it's still shown (we never hide a possibly-great find just because we couldn't measure it). So the filter narrows down the weights and bulk lots it can measure, without ever hiding everything else.
How often they run
Once a search is active, Worth Radar watches for new matches for you automatically and brings them in as they appear — you don't have to check back. Need results right now? Use Run now on a search to pull in matching listings immediately; that works anytime.
Managing searches
- Pause / activate — toggle a search without deleting it. A paused search surfaces nothing.
- Edit — change any criterion; future matches use the new settings.
- Run now — check for matching listings right away, on top of the automatic watching.
New matches flow into the Opportunities dashboard (or the Wants page for want searches), already scored. Pair searches with Slack alerts to hear about the best ones instantly.
